What’s going on?

Yo. It’s been a minute. So here goes an update.

2024 was the year of bad things for Becky Willard. But also, some really great things. Ups and downs is a good phrase. It started with shoulder surgery in January. Two weeks after shoulder surgery, I made a tragic misstep on my stairs going down to my studio and broke my left ankle (sprained the right). Fast forward a few months to have surgery to repair the break since it wasn’t healing. All the while, my father who had been fighting cancer for a few years was suddenly diagnosed with an aggressive, terminal brain cancer. This lead us to cleaning out their house to move them into an assisted living facility, to watching my father pass away in November. Mid year, I took on a part time job working for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on the music team. I directly assist with the audio recordings of the new hymns being released.

The cover band Made for Midnight that my husband Justin and I play in together also went through a sort of…transformation. The end of 2023 looked like the end of the road for the band, but before we knew it, the band took on a new look and feel with two new singers and a new outlook. The summer season was a bit slower than we wanted but the band has really taken on this amazing shape that brings us both a ton of joy. And if you can be in a band that brings you joy and not drama…SIGN ME UP!!!

So when I say ups and downs, it is literally.

Needless to say, all of this adventure has made it difficult for me to stay consistent with helpful content for you independent artists and musical entrepreneurs. As life seems to be smoothing out, I can’t help but brace myself for what might be lurking around the corner. That being said, I’m publicly stating that I’m going to give the “content-creation” train another really good go! I love being helpful. I love educating artists who are just getting started. And in this industry that is constantly evolving, it can be really overwhelming. If we join forces, together we can figure it out.

Will you let me know where you are currently stuck? What are the problems you are facing? Does AI have you wigged? (I think that’s a term from the 80’s but I’m hoping it’ll come back.) Send me a message, or comment below and let’s talk.

In the meantime, the coolest, most direct helpful thing I’ve ever created called “The Indie Artist 30 Day Jumpstart” is available for only $37. If you want to get your ducks in a row in 30 days to position you for real success, you gotta have all the goods. For only $37?? Isn’t that how much a latté costs these days?
